Get a Library Card
At the Library
Residents of Milwaukee County can get a library card at any public library located in the county. You'll need to bring in a photo ID such as a driver's license that has your name, picture and current Milwaukee County address on it. If your photo ID does not have your current address on it, please bring an additional document (can be digital) which does, such as a lease, bill, or account statement.
Online
You can apply for a new Milwaukee County Federated Library System card even while we are not able to have people inside the library building.
After completing the application form, a staff member will be in touch with you to confirm your card has been created, give you the card number, and share the instructions to create a private PIN (password) for your account. You need a PIN in order to place requests for items via the catalog and/or use digital materials from the library system.
Your physical library card will be mailed to you. Please allow 1-3 days for processing your request.
