"Free for All: The Public Library" Film Screening
Monday, April 7
6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Location: Village Center Meeting Room
To kick off National Library Week (April 6th -12th), join Shorewood Public Library for an Indie Lens Pop-Up of Free for All: The Public Library by Dawn Logsdon and Lucie Faulknor. Learn more about how public libraries shaped the country and continue to be a sanctuary for Americans everywhere.
Light refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Shorewood Public Library. No registration required, but space is limited.
Free for All: The Public Library tells the story of the quiet revolutionaries who made a simple idea happen. From the pioneering women behind the “Free Library Movement” to today's librarians who service the public despite working in a contentious age of closures and book bans, meet those who created a civic institution where everything is free and the doors are open to all.
This film screening is part of PBS Indie Lens Pop-Up, a community series that brings people together for film screenings and community-driven conversations. The screening will be followed by a brief community discussion to engage with the topics and themes of the film.
Free for All: The Public Library premieres on Independent Lens on Tuesday, April 29th.
