Frida Kahlo Art History Lecture
Friday, February 7
2:30 pm - 5:00 pm
Location: Shorewood Village Center
Born to a German father and a Mexican mother, Frida Kahlo spent much of her artistic career exploring her identity through expressive self-portraits that bordered between depicting her ancestry from the European side and the indigenous Mexican side respectively. Beyond her colorful artworks, she lived an equally colorful life. Frida's final words in her journal read, "I hope the exit is joyful -- and I hope never to come back." In this presentation from the Cornerstone History Symposium, professor Karri L. Fritz-Klaus will leave attendees convinced that even in death, Frida is full of life.
Professor Karri L. Fritz-Klaus has worked within the Smithsonian Institution and the Museum of African Art. She is a strong believer in the enrichment of our lives through exposure to the arts, history, and literature. In pursuit of those passions, Karri has been lecturing on various artists and artistic movements for several years, offering both symposiums as well as individual topics of interest. Like the culture of art, Karri's offerings are ever-growing.
*This lecture is best suited for mature audiences*
