You already know the library offers books at no cost to you, but did you know we also offer books you can pay (very, very little) for and keep forever?
It's true! Come in any day we're open and browse the Friends of Shorewood Library Book Sale. Located right at the front of the library, you can't miss the selection of gently used fiction, non-fiction, and children's books. Hardcovers are $2.00, Paperbacks $1.00 and children's books are just 25 cents. And unlike library books, they're yours to keep forever. Unless you want to re-donate them, which we welcome.
You don't have to worry that by buying books you are no longer supporting the library by checking them out: run by Friends of Shorewoood Library board members Alice Davis, with help from volunteers Maggie Lintereur and Jane Jansen, the book sale is a large piece of the fundraising efforts of the Friends. So crucial is the sale to the success of the Friends - thus the success of many important library programs and services - that the board honored the three "book sale ladies" as the Friends of the Year in 2014.
