It was a Seuss-tastical Saturday

Posted Mar 6, 2014

Our March 1st Seuss Celebration and Read-a-thon was a great success. More than 150 people enjoyed the Celebrity Readings, crafts, snacks, decorations, and games. (Pin the Mustache on the Lorax and Hulahoop Hullabaloo were big favorites.) During the three hour Read-a-thon, 60 people read a total of 2556 pages.

It takes a team to put together that big of a party. Our staff helped with prep and set up. Volunteers helped with games and snacks. Shorewood’s Culvers, Falbos, and Goody Gourmet generously donated gift cards for our prize drawing. Special thanks go to our Celebrity Readers – Jessob Reisbeck, Nicole Koglin, Doug Jarecki, Roscoe, and Shannon Sims. All took time from very busy schedules to help us celebrate Dr. Seuss and reading. They were all fantastic.

People have asked about the festive decorations. Our administrative assistant/artist Angie Andre created the poster, display signs and the very popular Thing 1 & Thing 2. The amazing balloon sculptures were created by Monica Radzin of Balloonocracy.

If you missed the celebration, we’ve posted pictures on our Facebook page.
