The beginning of the school year and the change of season signal a fresh start. Fall is also a time for returning to favorite traditions. Shorewood Library’s autumn events calendar promises a perfect mix of old favorites and fresh fun.
Our popular early literacy programs are back including Pop In & Play, Rhyme & Read, Toddler Time and Preschool Story time. Families with young children can also enjoy our once-a-month Special Saturdays, kicking off September 24. Elise Pennington, of the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, will present a music and movement session. In October, we will celebrate the season with Signs of Fall featuring stories, songs, and sign language. In November, Yoga Connects helps us Stretch with a Story.
All of your favorite Drop In programs will also be back. Weekly Art Cart is now 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. Lego Club returns the first and third Thursday of the month. Lego Club is open to all kids in first grade and up. Tweens (fourth grade and up) can tap their inner maker at Tinker Lab the last Thursday of the month or just hang out with friends and play some big screen video games or old school board games on Tweens Day (one Friday a month.)
After a summer hiatus, Family Fun Night returns with a new look. Bring the whole gang to enjoy a craft, Lego building, and other creative adventures. Family Fun Nights are held the second Tuesday of the month from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m..
Get ready for a “booo-tiful” celebration of the season. Our annual Halloween Happening is Friday October 28, 2:30 – 4:00 p.m.. We love to celebrate at the library so we will also honor the onset of hibernation with our second Bedtime Buddy Sleepover. Kids can register their favorite cuddly companion for a stuffed animal sleepover on Friday November 4.
We saved the best for last. You will have two chances to meet and mingle with some awesome authors. Picture book author Lori Degman will be at the library September 21 to talk about her latest book, Norbert’s Big Dream. Don’t miss the amazing Trenton Lee Stewart, author of the Mysterious Benedict Society, on Friday October 7 – 6:30 p.m. Stewart will introduce his newest blockbuster, The Secret Keepers. Both events are co-sponsored with our friends at Boswell Books. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
If all of that isn’t enough to fill your calendar, we have a full slate of programs for adults. Find a complete list of our upcoming events on our website calendar.
