suspension of library privileges
The maximum overdue fine (separate from replacement or damage cost) is $5 per item. Your library card privileges including public computer use, borrowing items, and requesting items will be suspended when you accrue $5 total in overdue fines. The block will be lifted only after all existing fines and charges are paid in full. In order to update a library card, all fines must be paid in full.
Shorewood Library has a grace period of three days for all Shorewood Library materials. No overdue fine will be charged during the grace period. Once past the grace period, overdue fines will be calculated from the due date. Items borrowed from another library are subject to the owning library's policies.
replacement of library materials
If an item is lost or damaged beyond repair, the replacement charge shall be the actual cost of the item plus a processing fee as reflected on the item record. If the cost is not present in the item record, a cost from Books In Print, Baker & Taylor, or Ingram will be used plus the processing fee. If an item is out of print, a default cost will be used. See complete list of replacement and damage costs.
A patron may receive a refund if an item that has been lost and paid for is found and returned within 90 days. The item being returned must be in library condition, as determined by the Librarian in Charge. The amount of the refund will be the full price minus any processing fee.
