  • From Anthrax to Zika: Emerging Pandemic Threats


    Location: Shorewood Village Center

    In Emily St. John Mandel's Station Eleven, a flu-like pandemic wipes out a significant portion of the Earth's population. Could this really happened? Dr. Mike LeMay will lead a discussion covering pandemics of past centuries, how modern medicine is battling disease today, and what future threats we should be concerned about.

    Dr. Michael LeMay is Professor Emeritus of Political Science, California State University--San Bernardino, where he served as director of the National Security Studies program, Chair of the Department of Political Science, and Assistant Dean for Student Affairs of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Dr. LeMay took his B.S. and M.S. Degrees from the University of Wisconsin; and his Ph.D. Degree from the University of Minnesota. He has authored 21 published academic books, including numerous immigration history/policy titles as well as textbooks on immigration.
