Location: Village Center Meeting Rooms
Join us on Dr Martin Luther King Jr Day to engage with your neighbors in crucial conversations about race and racism. This is the first in a series of community conversations focused on race, studying the book We Were Eight Years in Power by Ta-Nehisi Coates.
Discussions will be held every other month, and each discussion will consider an essay from the book. The complete schedule can be found here.
This month, we will discuss Chapter 6, "The Case for Reparations," a version of which was published in The Atlantic in June 2014. You can find it online here: https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2014/06/the-case-for-reparations/361631/
Reading Race is a collaboration between Shorewood Public Library, the Shorewood School District and the YWCA of Southeast Wisconsin.
