  • Women You Should Have Read: Heloise

Location: Friends of the Shorewood Library Program Room

Heloise was a 12th century French nun, writer, and scholar whose radical feminist philosophies challenged marriage and women's role in society.  Dr. Gregory Sadler returns to present a hidden history program that illuminates the role Heloise's work play in modern studies.  Heloise is recognized for her correspondence with her lover Abelard, and a recent biography of their relationship, Heloise & Abelard: A New Biography by James Burge can be found in the Milwaukee County library system.
