Reading Race: Community Conversations
Join your neighbors to discuss Ta-Nehisi Coates’ book We Were Eight Years in Power, which examines challenging yet critical topics such as mass incarceration, reparations, segregation and systemic racism. We Were Eight Years in Power brings together a selection of Coates' essays published in The Atlantic during Obama's presidency, from 2008 through January 2017. The book is available at the library, and the essays in their original version are available online and linked below.
Reading Race takes place on the second Thursday of every other month, from 6:00-7:30 p.m. in the Shorewood Village Center meeting rooms, on the lower level of the Library. The final session will be on a Monday - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2019, Monday, January 21.
Come to one, or come to all. Join the conversation anytime!
