Now that we have snow on the ground, it’s time to get into the holiday spirit with these Christmas reads:

Christmas Days: 12 Stories and 12 Feasts for 12 Days by Jeanette Winterson

Celebrate the twelve days of Christmas with twelve short stories.  New York Times bestseller Jeannette Winterson writes a new Christmas story each year, and now they compiled in this handsome collection, each story complete with its own delicious recipe.  Winterson’s stories for the holiday season range from winter charms to spooky fascinations, including golden-nosed donkeys, trees with magical powers, talking tinsel babies, flying dogs, philosophical fairies, and haunted houses.  Unconventional yet compelling, the stories in Christmas Days can be read day by day or in one sitting.

The Good Remains by Nani Power

Neonatologist C. R. Ash is on his way to a staff holiday party, but on his wintery walk to the hospital, he encounters a number of characters both living and deceased.  There’s Betty the secretary, Kirsten the candy striper, a gang of death obsessed teenagers, and a couple of caterers who are trying to create a world of magic for the hospital staff to enjoy.  A chronic bachelor at best, Dr. Ash may soon find himself in a heap of trouble for his involvement with a young mother and the loss of her infant child.  Set in a rural Virginia village, The Good Remains is a modernization version of a Victorian story full of love, loss, and desolation.

Her teacher, another lost soul searching for something on Christmas Eve, has just moved home after a divorce and has newfound, but misplaced, hope for a reunion with an old love. At The Cat's Pajamas, things aren't going well and the club may be forced to close. In this quick read, Christmas magic brings Madeleine, her teacher, and club owner Lorca together for a charming and funny exploration of fate.
