Facilities Facelift & the Future

Posted Aug 22, 2016

Last year, we examined our furniture and found that many areas need repair or updating. Thanks to a private donation and approval of a capital purchase request from the Village of Shorewood, we are in the process of doing so! Staff, trustees and Friends are now viewing and comparing possible chair options - just one of the furniture updates we have planned for this fall.

This year's upgrade just a small start to a larger ongoing process now being undertaken by the Library Board and administration. Since the spring, a sub-committee of the Library Board has been working to define the library's facilities, determine how to measure use and success, and envision repairs and improvement for the long run. Their goal is to create a Master Facilities Plan in 2017.

You can be a part of this process. It's vital that we hear from you, the library's users, as we think about our space. You care about the tables, chairs, floor, lights, computers and all the little things that make the space inviting and useful. Tell us about your experience! The Library Board has created a brief survey that you can access from the Facilities Planning page. The survey will be open until September 30.
