Toasty Times at the Library

Posted Jan 30, 2019

The weather outside is frightful – but the library is always delightful. We have plenty of indoor activities to warm up your winter.

If your little ones are showing signs of cabin fever, a trip to the library is a sure cure. Our popular Rhyme & Read Lapsits for children, 6 to 23 months, and Toddler Times for Two Year Olds will be held in February and April. Thursday afternoon Story Times for 3s & 4s will continue through March. Registration is required. Drop-in sessions include Sensory Playtimes and Pop In & Play sessions. Shadow or not, Saturday February 2 we will mark Groundhog’s Day with a Music and Movement event led by the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music’s Elise Pennington. It’s a perfect time for your young ones to get their wiggles out.

School-aged kids can fire up their creative skills at weekly Wednesday Art Carts. If bricks and blocks are more their thing, Lego Club is held the first and third Thursdays of the month for kids in first grade and up.  Grown-ups can join in at monthly Family Fun Nights featuring crafts, building, and games for the whole gang.

Tweens in 3rd grade and up can find some STEAM-y fun at monthly Tinker Labs.  Fourth through eighth graders who are in the mood to “chill” will want to check out the video games, board games and snacks at Tweensday.  Tweensdays are held the second Friday of the month.

Looking for free fun for the entire crew from tots to grand-pops?  Legofest returns Saturday February 23 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.. Enjoy Lego creations from Wisconsin Lego Users Group. Then be inspired to create some incredible structures of your own in our Build-a-Brick area. You can also try out Lego Mindstorms and enter a drawing for Lego-related prizes. March heralds Seuss season. Join us Saturday March 2 at 10:30 a.m. for Seuss-tastical games, crafts, snacks, and our Celebrity Readers.  Later in the month, we’ll be donning the green and welcoming the Trinity Irish Dancers for a March 14, 7 p.m. performance.

For more information about our programs for all ages, check out our Events Calendar.

Of course, you don’t need a special reason to visit the library. We are here seven days a week so your family can stock up on good books, movies, and music, relax in one of our comfy chairs, enjoy some puzzles or board games, use the computers, or meet and greet your neighbors.
