Meet the mind behind the Masterminds, a thrilling new adventure series. That’s right – Gordon Korman, the bestselling author of over 80 books for kids and teens will be at the Shorewood Library Thursday February 11 at 6:30 p.m.

He will be talking about CRIMINAL DESTINY, the second book in his MASTERMINDS trilogy, as well as some of his other works. And there is plenty to talk about. Korman’s writing career started with a seventh grade class assignment. In his own words – “The track and field coach had to teach English. For creative writing, he gave us total freedom to work on whatever we wanted for the rest of the year. It was February. I sent my manuscript to Scholastic because I was the class monitor for Scholastic Book Orders, and figured I was practically an employee. Seriously. (Full disclosure: my mom had to type the book for me.) It was a totally flukey and random way to launch a publishing career, but here’s the thing: It worked! THIS CAN’T BE HAPPENING AT MACDONALD HALL was published by Scholastic when I was a freshman in high school, and I was on my way.”

Since then, his 80+ books have sold more than 25 million copies and been translated into 30 languages. That means kids and teens across the world have been able to get a glimpse into this writer’s mind through titles like SWINDLE, MEMORY MAZE, THE HYPNOTISTS, several books in the popular 39 CLUES series, and the latest MASTERMINDS. Now, kids and teens in our area can meet the man in person.

Join us on Thursday when we welcome Gordon Korman to Shorewood. Thanks to Boswell Books, his newest titles will be available for purchase and signing. (Two books per person for signing.) You can also enter a drawing to win an autographed copy of the newest book. If that isn’t enough, we’ll even have refreshments.

We know, Korman will be visiting with students at Lake Bluff earlier in the day. That means some of you can have a double helping of fun and adventure. Listen to him talk during the day, then have a chance to talk with him at night. He might even give us a sneak peak at what happens in the third MASTERMINDS book.
